Extra assistance is available for those students who wish to revisit topics in which they have had problems. We also help those students who wish to progress more quickly than is normally expected. No pressure will be put on students to follow that path.

    Syllabus Years 7 to 9

    We follow the national curriculum for years 7 to 9 (key stage 3) and use the KeyMaths series of text books. Classes are set on ability.

    Syllabus Years 10 and 11 - GCSE

    Set 1; Statistics GCSE (Edexcel) is taken at the end of year 10 and then students follow the Higher Tier GCSE (Edexcel) Mathematics course in year 11.

    Other sets follow the GCSE (Edexcel) Mathematics course in year 11. Tier level depends on the ability of the students.

    We are trialling on-line preps for all year groups at present but paper versions are available for those students who are unable to access the internet.

    Syllabus AS / A2

    Sixth Form Centre

    It is possible to retake GCSE Mathematics at Grenville. We can provide help for courses other than Edexcel for those students entering the sixth form from other establishments

    We follow the Edexcel A level syllabi for Mathematics (AS and A2) and Further Mathematics. A further qualification is possible for suitable candidates.

    Lower Sixth

    AS - Pure Mathematics modules C1 and C2 are completed by all and then either Decision Mathematics 1 or Mechanics 1.
    A2 -This is for the students intending to complete the further mathematics A level course. Pure mathematics modules C3 and C4 along with Statistics 1.

    Upper Sixth

    A2 - Pure mathematics modules C3 and C4 and Statistics 1.
    Further mathematics: Pure modules FP1 and FP2 and then four modules depending on the interests/needs of the students. Choice made from pure module FP3, Mechanics modules M2 and M3, Statistics modules S2 and S3 and decision mathematics module D2.

    Extra Opportunities

    UKMT Challenge
    We enter students at junior, intermediate and senior level in this national competition. We have managed to compete at the European Kangaroo stage on two occasions.
